How long do menopausal symptoms last in most women? Longer than you may think, according to a new study.

The researchers included more than 1,400 women involved in a national health survey on menopausal transition. All were between 42 and 52 years old at the start and reported frequent hot flashes and night sweats. The participants were followed for more than a decade, and the results showed that, on average, total duration of symptoms was 7.4 years.
